Integrated RF Energy Harvesting System in 5G Wireless Sensor Node for Internet of Things (IoT) Application

Abstract:

The present invention relates to an energy harvesting circuit including a main rectifier circuit having three cross-coupled differential drive (CCDD) rectifiers connected in parallel to one another, the main rectifier circuit being operatively connected to a voltage source at one end and to an output at the other, the three CCDD rectifiers being operatively connectable to three corresponding transmission gates, such that in one part of a switching cycle a first and fourth pairs of the transmission gates are switched on while a second and third pairs are switched off if a control circuit determines that an input voltage is lower than a reference voltage, and in another part of a switching cycle the second and third pairs of the transmission gates are switched on while the first and fourth pairs are switched off if the control circuit determines that an input voltage is higher than the reference voltage.
